Optimization and Removal Efficiency of Basic Textile Dyestuffs with Using Perfluorosulfonic Acid-Based Polymer

The removal of basic dyestuffs (Basic Red ۴۶ and Basic Blue ۴۱) from synthetic dye solutions was examined by using perfluorosulfonic acid-based polymer for the first time in the present study. The effects of four different variables, such as pHs (۳.۰, ۵.۰, ۷.۰, ۹.۰, and ۱۱.۰), temperature (۲۵ °C, ۳۵ °C, ۴۵ °C, ۵۵ °C, and ۶۵ °C), initial dyestuffs concentration (۲۰, ۴۰, ۶۰, ۸۰ and ۱۰۰ mg L-۱) and treatment time (۲۰, ۴۰, ۶۰, ۸۰ and ۱۰۰ min.) on the removal performance were investigated. The optimum conditions were determined for R۴۶ as pH: ۶.۵; temperature: ۵۴.۱ °C; concentration: ۹۷.۴ mg L-۱; time: ۶۰.۸ min. and for B۴۱ as pH: ۷.۵; temperature: ۵۴.۶ °C; concentration: ۶۷.۱ mg L-۱; time: ۶۹.۵ min. by using Response Surface Methodology. Removal performance values for R۴۶ and B۴۱ were determined respectively ۹۹.۹% and ۹۹.۵% at the optimum conditions. Also, perfluorosulfonic acid-based polymer was able to regenerate up to ۲۰ cycles without significant performance change for the dyestuff removal process.
