Artificial Intelligence in Sports Management: Opportunities and Challenges

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into sports management is reshaping the industry by providing advanced tools for decision-making, performance enhancement, fan engagement, and operational efficiency. AI technologies such as predictive analytics, computer vision, and machine learning enable sports organizations to analyze large datasets, forecast outcomes, personalize fan experiences, and optimize resource use. This paper investigates how AI applications are being adopted across various domains in sports management, with a focus on both strategic opportunities and implementation challenges. Drawing from interdisciplinary sources and theoretical models such as the Technology Acceptance Model and decision support theory, this study synthesizes current practices while highlighting the limitations of infrastructure, data privacy concerns, algorithmic bias, and lack of AI expertise among professionals. The paper includes empirical examples from elite sports organizations and suggests frameworks for ethical, inclusive, and sustainable integration of AI. It emphasizes the need for policy development, capacity-building, and international standards to ensure responsible use. The findings provide insights for stakeholders—managers, coaches, policy-makers, and technology developers—who aim to harness AI’s full potential while mitigating its risks. The study concludes with actionable recommendations to guide future research, practice, and collaboration in the evolving landscape of AI in sports management.
