Parental styles, as significant factors in children's social and cognitive development, particularly influence their problem-solving abilities and the development of a sense of responsibility. This review aims to systematically examine the relationship between parenting styles and these two key skills in children. Methods: This study is a systematic review. Relevant articles focusing on problem-solving and responsibility in children in relation to parenting styles were searched in reputable scientific databases (Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed) and Persian databases (SID, Magiran) between ۲۰۰۰ and ۲۰۲۴, and selected after quality assessment. Findings: The results of the review indicated that authoritative parenting style, which is characterized by a balance of control and high emotional responsiveness, is significantly associated with children's better ability to identify and find effective solutions to problems, as well as to accept responsibility for the consequences of their actions. Possible mechanisms include the provision of learning opportunities, emotional support, and the setting of clear expectations by authoritative parents. Conclusion: The findings of this review emphasize the importance of an authoritative parenting style in fostering problem-solving skills and a sense of responsibility in children. Educational interventions for parents aimed at promoting an authoritative style could be effective in improving these aspects of children's development.
