چکیده مقاله:
This study explores the relationship between personality traits and depression symptoms in young children, with the goal of identifying key psychological factors contributing to vulnerability and offering evidence-based strategies for early intervention. Utilizing the Five-Factor Model of personality, ۲۶۸ fifth-grade students in Tehran were assessed using standardized tools: the Children’s Depression Inventory and the Five-Factor Personality Questionnaire. Results revealed that neuroticism was the strongest predictor of depression, while extraversion, conscientiousness, and agreeableness were inversely related to depressive symptoms. Gender analysis showed higher depression and neuroticism scores in girls, suggesting the importance of gender-sensitive intervention strategies. The findings underscore the value of early screening for personality traits to enable timely emotional support. The study emphasizes the need for emotional resilience programs, family engagement, and school-based mental health services to mitigate childhood depression.
