چکیده مقاله:

Background: Diabetic foot ulcer is one of the most important complications of diabetes which new methods such as ozone therapy and new dressings are used to improve it. Therefore, It is necessary to compare their effects. Objectives: The present study was designed with the aim of investigating and comparing two new treatment methods, namely ozone therapy and the new dressing method in the healing of diabetic foot ulcers. Methods: This research is a cross-sectional comparative-observational study that sampling was done continuously in two treatment centers (Baqiyatullah Ozone Therapy Research Center and Tehran University Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases Clinic) in ۲۰۱۸. Sampling was convenience until ۳۶ people were included in both groups. Patients in the first group received ozone therapy for ۲ to ۳ months and in the second group, new dressing along with debridement for ۲ to ۳ months. Using the recorded images, the size and characteristics of the wound were measured and recorded with a ruler. Results: The patients of the two groups did not have statistically significant differences in terms of demographic variables and were almost homogeneous (P>۰.۰۵). In the ozone therapy group, the average area of the wound at the beginning of treatment was ۱۱.۵۷ cm, which decreased to ۲.۴۸ cm at the end of the three-month period (P۰.۰۵). Conclusion: Considering the effect of both methods in diabetic wound healing, these treatment methods can be used for wound healing. It is suggested that due to the lack of significant statistical difference between the two methods in wound healing, the cost benefit of each method and the patient's preference should be taken into account in choosing one of these two treatment methods.
