چکیده مقاله:
Context and purpose: Injuries to the spine are one of the main reasons for performing surgeries on patients, which cost a lot of money and energy every year. The infection caused by such surgeries results in long hospitalization, treatment costs, fatigue of the treatment staff and a high financial burden on governments. Therefore, studying infection caused by spinal surgery requires energy and knowledge. Materials and methods: In this review, Persian and English articles were searched with the keyword's surgical wound infection, spine surgery, wound and infection. A total of ۱۷ Persian articles and ۱۰ English articles were found from SID and ScienceDirect databases, among which ۱۶ articles were analyzed in full text. Results: Infections caused by spine surgery are usually bacterial and require antibiotic treatment. that the use of injectable antibiotics and then orally are effective. Because these infections have a direct effect on the nerves, they can generally be very painful and require palliative treatments. Research has shown that the use of sublingual buprenorphine is more effective than the use of injectable morphine. Also, the use of a pain pump was said to be a suitable palliative method. Infections caused by spine surgery can also cause changes in the function and shape of the structure of the surgical area. Conclusion: Infections caused by spinal surgeries require palliative and antibiotic treatments both prophylactically and therapeutically. It is better to wash the surgical area several times as close as possible to the surgery. Early diagnosis and treatment according to the type of infection of the operation site has a direct relationship with faster treatment and the absence of deformity and function of the spine.
