چکیده مقاله:
Leishmaniasis is one of the most common parasitic diseases in tropical and subtropical regions of the world and is considered a threat to public health. Our country is also one of the endemic areas of cutaneous leishmaniasis in the world. About ۲۰-۴۰ cases of leishmaniasis per ۱۰۰ per year. It is reported that this trend is increasing. The causative agent of cutaneous leishmaniasis is a protozoan from the Kintoplastid family, the causative agent of which in Iran is Leishmania major (rural type) and Leishmania tropica (urban type). More than ۷۰% of leishmaniasis cases in Iran Leishmaniasis is major. The reservoir of the disease is human in the urban type and field rodents in the rural type, such as mice and rabbits, and also the vector of the disease is the female mosquito of the genus Phlebotomus. Pentavalent anti-leishmaniasis, the problems of disease recurrence, drug resistance, drug side effects and long treatment period It has been a long time, so research on new drugs, especially herbal compounds without side effects, is necessary. The present study was conducted by investigating the effect of the hydroalcoholic extract of Santolina plant on the promastigote form of Leishmania major in laboratory conditions and the wound caused by it in Balb/c mice.
