چکیده مقاله:

Introduction Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the biggest diseases in the world. Public Health Emergencies of the ۲۱st Century Approximately ۴۱۵ million adults have diabetes, and by ۲۰۴۰ this number will increase to ۶۴۲ million. Diabetic neuropathy is the most common type of neuropathy in developed countries, with a prevalence of approximately ۶۰%, and may affect up to half of diabetic patients, leading to significant economic morbidity and mortality. The most common form is symmetrical diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), which mainly affects the lower extremities and is a major cause of morbidity due to its effects on the risk of subsequent ulceration, amputation, and disability. It is accompanied by an increase in the risk of foot wounds, infection, cellulitis, loss of balance, amputation, an increase in financial burden, and a defect in the quality of life. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is responsible for ۵۰ to ۷۵ percent of non-traumatic amputations. Materials and methods in this review study, the articles registered in Pubmed and ScholarGoogle databases were searched using the keywords diabetic neuropathy, prevention, life style and their equivalents in MeSH. The criteria for entering this study were English and Persian articles related to the title that were published from ۲۰۱۲ until now, and a total of ۲۰ articles were examined. Findings Findings from this review study show that unhealthy behaviors (such as convenience eating, poor dietary choices, smoking, and physical inactivity) are responsible for ۴۰ percent of premature deaths in the United States and lead to persistent health disparities. In the context of the decisive role of lifestyle in the production of diabetes, it has been shown that the lowest rate of prevalence of type ۲ diabetes was in rural communities where people have maintained a traditional lifestyle. Also, surprising changes in the prevalence and incidence of type ۲ diabetes have occurred in communities. who have experienced major changes in the type of nutrition consumed, from native diet to western diet. Conclusion Considering the importance and fundamental role of lifestyle in diabetes and its complications such as diabetic foot ulcers and the resulting burden, it seems that managers and policy makers should plan and take more measures to improve the lifestyle of people with diabetes.
