چکیده مقاله:

The paper presents Large Eddy Simulation (LES) Conditional Moment Closure (CMC) of methanol piloted flame. For the turbulence modelling, dynamic Smagorinsky approach was adopted to allow for local adjustment of Smagorinsky constant. For turbulent combustion modelling, CMC is used with conditional volume averaging for calculation of conditional scalar dissipation and conditional velocity. The temperature along radial direction is compared against experimental data. The comparison showed acceptable agreement with the experimental measurements. The disparity between measured temperature and numerical simulation results originates from inaccurate mixture fraction prediction, impacting the computation of unconditional temperature and species mass fractions through integration with a beta Filtered Density Function (FDF) which is determined by mixture fraction and its variance. Consequently, an unrealistic mixture fraction prediction results in distorted estimations of temperature and species mass fractions. However, the conditional temperature is in good agreement with experimental data that shows CMC model capabilities in turbulent combustion modelling.
