چکیده مقاله:
The increasing penetration of renewable energy sources, such as wind and photovoltaic systems, introduces significant challenges to power grid stability and reliability due to their intermittent and variable nature. This has led to a reduction in system inertia, which, in turn, affects voltage and frequency stability. In this paper, we focus on the critical role of battery energy storage systems in addressing these challenges by reviewing various frequency and voltage regulation control strategies enabled by the integration of battery energy storage systems with high-renewable-energy power systems. Traditional methods, such as droop control, virtual inertia control, and advanced control strategies—including adaptive algorithms and coordinated control mechanisms—are examined, highlighting their effectiveness in improving grid stability. Additionally, the optimal sizing and allocation of battery energy storage systems are reviewed and discussed alongside different optimization techniques. This paper synthesizes recent research and practical insights to underscore the indispensable role of battery energy storage systems in modern power systems, enabling higher levels of renewable energy integration without compromising grid reliability and efficiency.
