This paper presents procedures and analysis of a new miniaturized coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed circularly polarized dual-band metamaterial antenna. The presented antenna structure consists of a rectangular-shaped ring resonator (RSRR) connected with a line and it is terminated with a rectangular-shaped virtual grounded stub, a staircase microstrip feed line, and a circular single split ring (CSSR)-type resonator. The dual-band performance obtained with a conventional rectangular-shaped split-ring patch radiator and a virtual grounded stub for ۳.۳۹-۳.۸۷ GHz (۱۳.۲۲%), on the backside, circular-SSR (C-SSR) is introduced for the generation of another orthogonal mode and hence to generate CP radiation for ۲.۶-۲.۹ GHz (۱۰.۹%). The two bands are the results of resonances of ۲.۸ GHz and ۳.۶ GHz which cover LTE ۲۶۰۰ and WiMAX applications. The coplanar waveguide (CPW) staircase microstrip fed line along with the ground plane is used to improve the impedance matching. Furthermore, to achieve a better understanding of the presented metamaterial circularly polarized dual-band antenna behavior, key parameters study and equivalent circuit model are used. The proposed via-less circularly polarized dual-band antenna has a very simple design, compact size of ۹.۵ mm × ۱۵ mm × ۰.۸ mm, dual-band performances with independent tuning, quasi-omnidirectional radiation characteristics, and a high radiation efficiency in all working bands.
