چکیده مقاله:

This study examined the roles of loneliness, negative emotional states (NES), coping styles, and defense mechanisms in the prediction of psychosomatic symptoms (PSS) in adults. A clinical sample of ۳۰۰ outpatients with PSS was selected using purposive sampling. The Psychosomatic Symptoms Questionnaire (PSQ-۳۹), the Social and Emotional Loneliness Scale for Adults-Short Version (SELSA-S), the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-۲۱ (DASS-۲۱), the Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations-Short-Form (CISS-SF) and the Defense Style Questionnaire (DSQ-۴۰) used in this study. Altogether, loneliness, NES, coping styles, and defense mechanisms regression explained ۸۵.۸% of the variation in PSS. Also, loneliness, negative emotions, neurotic defense mechanisms, and avoidance coping style had a significant positive correlation with PSS. While the task-oriented coping style has a significant negative relationship with PSS.
