Case report of Tracheal Collapse in a Golden Retriever

Narrowing of the tracheal lumen is either hypoplasia which refers to a general reduction of tracheal diameter, or tracheal collapse, which is when the tracheal diameter is reduced focally. Tracheal collapse can be cervical or intra-thoracic. Cervical and thoracic inlet collapse is more often in the inspiration phase; however, intrathoracic collapse is more in expiration. Collapses are common in middle-aged and older small and toy-breed dogs and rarely in larger breeds. Although, golden retrievers are more predisposed.
