Investigating the Relationship between Dramatic Personality and Primary Maladaptive Schemas with the Desire for Cosmetic Surgery among Iranian Women

Background and Objectives: The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between dramatic personality and primary maladaptive schemas with desire for cosmetic surgery in Iranian women.Methodology: The research method was descriptive and correlational. The statistical population of this research included all cosmetic surgery applicants who referred to the beauty clinics and counseling centers of Tehran in ۲۰۲۴ in the number of ۴۶۰ people, of which ۲۱۰ people were selected as a sample by simple random sampling based on Morgan's table. In order to collect the data of the research, the questionnaires of tendency towards cosmetic surgery in Soheili women (۲۰۱۶), Yang's schema (۲۰۰۵) and drama personality disorder in Alavi Hijazi women and colleagues (۲۰۱۷) were used. The research data were analyzed using multivariate regression statistical analysis.Findings: The results indicated that there is a significant relationship between dramatic personality and initial incompatible schemas with the desire for cosmetic surgery in Iranian women. Based on these findings, expressive personality predicts ۴۴% of women's desire for cosmetic surgery (β=۰.۴۴), and other results showed that the initial incompatible schemas can predict women's desire for cosmetic surgery has (β=۰.۳۹).Conclusion: According to the recognition of the initial maladaptive schemas in women applying for cosmetic surgery in this study, it is recommended to provide psychological treatments before cosmetic surgery.
