چکیده مقاله:

English in Iran has a long and complex history, divided into several different periods. Since the Qajar period, when contacts between Iran and Western countries increased, English has gradually gained attention in Iran. Diplomatic and trade trips, especially with Britain, led to English being used as a second language in some circles. During the Pahlavi era, English language teaching expanded, especially in schools and universities. With the establishment of higher education centers and private high schools offering educational programs in English, this language became a requirement for higher education in Iran. During this period, many Iranians traveled to English-speaking countries to continue their studies, which contributed to the expansion of the use of English in Iran. After the Islamic Revolution in ۱۹۷۹, English language education was influenced by new policies. Despite some restrictions, interest in learning English continued, and the language was considered a tool for accessing global information, technology, and other cultures. In recent years, social and economic crises, as well as the desire to connect with the global community, have led to the rapid spread of English in Iran and its emergence as a key skill in professional and academic life. Today, English is taught in many schools, universities, and educational institutions and is recognized as the international language of business, science, and technology. In addition, the Internet and social media have also contributed to the learning and use of English, and this language has become an integral part of the daily lives of Iranian people.
