A Comparative Study of Allameh Tabatabai's and Professor Javadi Amoli's Views on the Position of the Prophetic Tradition

The connection between the Quran and the Sunnah has been mentioned in a number of Quranic verses and narratives. From this point of view, the position of the prophetic tradition is considered one of the important topics. In this article, the views of two contemporary thinkers, Allameh Tabatabai and Professor Javadi Amoli, about the position of the prophetic tradition have been analyzed in a comparative way. These two commentators believe that according to the Quranic verses and also the correct narrations from the Infallible Imams (peace be upon them), prophethood has a different place from the mission, and for this reason, there is a noticeable difference in interpretations and opinions in the interpretations of the verses that use the words 'Messenger' and 'Prophet'. The present research, with a descriptive-analytical method, explores the issue of what were the views of Allameh Tabatabai and Professor Javadi Amoli about the place of prophecy and mission in the interpretation of the Quranic verses, and what are the similarities and differences in the views of these two commentators in the discussion of following the prophetic tradition. The findings of the research show that Allameh Tabatabai and Professor Javadi Amoli consider it necessary to follow the prophetic tradition by emphasizing the position of the prophet in direct news from God and organizing the spiritual and social life of the people, as well as having the perfect certain knowledge and immunity from sin and error in the field of personal and social actions.
