Succession planning is a dynamic and continuous process, and its purpose is to identify and develop potential successors in an organization, and it is also defined as a regular approach to creating continuity in the organization. In other words, succession planning is a set of deliberate and systematic activities that an organization uses to ensure the continuity of leadership in key positions, maintain and nurture intellectual and scientific capital for advancement and encourage people to advance. The purpose of this review research is to investigate and analyze the origin and historical background of the concept of succession management and planning in the religion of Islam. In the Islamic school, Wilayat, the caliphate, and the successor of the prophets and divine saints, are explained and communicated by the Almighty God; this great and historical matter is stated in the Holy Quran and hadiths and prophetic narratives, including the verse of Wilayat, the verse of Tabligh, the hadith of Vezarat, the hadith of Manzelat and the hadith of Ghadir.
