چکیده مقاله:

Man has a high position and value in the tradition of mysticism; because it has the power of 'reason' and thinking that brings a person to 'meaning' and 'spirituality'. Among the different dimensions of man, the intellectual dimension and the spiritual dimension have a higher position than other dimensions and shine like a bright light on the darkness of human existence. Philosophers have considered the most important feature and chapter that separates them from animals as intellect. Intellect is the foundation of humanity, the proof and inner prophet of God, and the unique source of scientific and spiritual perfections. Therefore, the correct cultivation of the intellect will be the cornerstone of the cultivation of other areas of human existence; if reason overcomes a person's ego, the eyes of his heart will be opened, and if he is overcome by lust, the eyes of the soul will be closed. Virtues and good deeds strengthen the intellect and vices and sins darken the intellect. The two concepts of 'rationality' and 'spirituality' are multi-generational and interdisciplinary concepts that are discussed from different perspectives in various sciences such as psychology, sociology, philosophy, ethics, and mysticism. The relationship between these two is one of the important topics of our time; some have judged the opposition and incompatibility of these two and introduced rationality as anti-spirituality, while others have ruled the convergence and compatibility between rationality and spirituality and have spoken of 'spiritual rationality' or 'rational spirituality'. In the meantime, looking at rationality and its relationship with spirituality through the lens of mysticism, opens new horizons for the truth-seeing man and reveals heartwarming roles from this spiritual heritage of mankind. From the perspective of Islamic mysticism, rationality, and spirituality are compatible and help each other; religious rationality leads to spirituality and Islamic spirituality develops rationality. In the religion of Islam, reason has a high position and the verses and narratives of the Prophet (PBUH) always invite man to be rational and in this way help in the growth of spirituality. In the meantime, rationality and wisdom are the most important areas that have been ordered in religious texts and Islamic mysticism. Based on this, the present article has examined rationality and spirituality in the mystical approach of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), after that, it has expressed the ways of cultivating rationality as the foundations of spirituality.
