چکیده مقاله:

Phenolic compounds are a diverse natural group of occurring chemicals found in various plant species. They are characterized by one or more hydroxyl groups (-OH) bonded to an aromatic ring. These compounds can be extracted from fruits and vegetables such as tea and coffee. Phenolic compounds have significant biological activities and are widely studied for their potential therapeutic effect. In this way, phenolic compounds exhibit a broad range of therapeutic capacities including antimicrobial (antibacterial antifungal, and antiviral effects), antineoplastic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-diabetic activities, which creates them of particular interest in pharmacology and medicine. For example, many phenolic compounds promote programmed cell death in cancer cells by modulating pro-apoptotic signaling pathways and inhibiting anti-apoptotic factors. In addition, some phenolic compounds inhibit key enzymes involved in bacterial metabolism, such as bacterial proteases, lipases, and DNA gyrase. In this regard, this study has presented an overview of some of the key therapeutic activities of phenolic compounds.
