چکیده مقاله:

Polyphenolic compounds found abundantly in various plant species such as Camellia sinensis, have earned remarkable attention in recent years due to their potential antimicrobial and wound-healing capacities. These bioactive compounds, which include flavonoids, phenolic acids, tannins, and lignans, may be extracted from other natural sources such as resin-like material, specifically propolis with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial effects. Given their antimicrobial and wound-healing properties, polyphenolic compounds have been explored in various medical and therapeutic formulations, including topical wound dressings, antibacterial and antifungal agents, and cosmetic products. Low water solubility and large polyphenolic compounds are the main clinical limitations that may be improved by appropriate nanoformulations such as polymeric ones. In this regard, this review has focused on recent advances and limitations of novel antimicrobial and wound healing formulations based on polyphonic compounds.
