چکیده :

Antibiotics, as active pharmaceutical compounds, play a key role in the treatment and prevention of diseases in humans, animals, and plants. However, the repeated use of these compounds in medical and agricultural settings has led to environmental pollution and the emergence of bacterial resistance, a challenge particularly evident in agricultural and livestock soils. Identifying and investigating the antibiotic resistance persistence of endophytic bacteria in such environments can help enhance our understanding of ecosystem changes. This study examines the abundance and percentage of antibiotic resistance persistence in endophytic bacteria of native plants, including Lamb’s ear, Eryngium, Euphorbia, and Astragalus, in two sites: the Angoran iron mine and pastureland in Hamedan. The aim of this research is to assess the impact of heavy metal and antibiotic pollution on microbial characteristics and to identify bacteria resistant to these compounds in soil and native plants. For this purpose, sampling of soil and plants was performed, and the physical and chemical properties of the soils and microbial abundance were measured using culture methods and the Kirby-Bauer test. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of pollution caused by heavy metals and antibiotics on microbial features and to identify antibiotic-resistant bacteria in soil and native plants. To achieve this goal, samples of soil and native plants (including four plant species: Lamb’s ear, Eryngium, Euphorbia, and Astragalus) were collected from two regions (mine and pastureland). Then, the physical and chemical properties of the soils were analyzed, and microbial abundance was assessed using culture-based methods and the Kirby-Bauer assay to evaluate bacterial persistence against antibiotics. The findings of this study indicate significant differences in the persistence of antibiotic resistance among endophytic bacteria from the two different environments. In particular, higher persistence of bacteria, especially against various antibiotics, was observed in soils from the mining area. This demonstrates the ability of these bacteria to adapt to harsh environmental conditions and to resist contaminants. The results also showed that bacteria isolated from the Lamb’s ear plant displayed significant differences in antibiotic resistance patterns, indicating the influence of plant species on microbial profiles and their persistence. For example, endophytic bacteria from Eryngium and Euphorbia plants also showed resistance to certain antibiotics, which requires further careful investigation.
