Currently, the focus on energy conservation is seen as crucial on a global scale due to its numerous advantages, such as cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions, decreasing the need for energy imports, and reducing expenses both in households and across economies. Researchers and architects are seeking ways to enhance building efficiency through the use of advanced energy technologies. Modifications can also be implemented in current buildings to decrease the energy usage of air conditioning systems, even while in use, without significantly altering the system layout and minimizing the cost of the changes. This could involve using innovative heat transfer fluids made of nanofluids. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of HVAC systems, the use of nanofluids in heating and cooling, and the application of nanofluids in Waste Heat Recovery for HVAC systems. Nanofluids are widely used in various fields due to their strong applications. Nanofluids have been applied in waste heat collectors, nuclear reactors, and solar desalination plants. Further benefits are provided by other properties of nanofluids, in addition to enhancing heat transfer. Thus, it is clear that nanofluid has been tested in numerous fields and it is anticipated that its use will continue to expand in the future.
