چکیده مقاله:

The rapid growth of urbanization worldwide has posed significant challenges to the management of public transportation systems, particularly in large urban areas. The emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) has introduced transformative technologies capable of addressing inefficiencies in transportation systems, reducing traffic congestion, and enhancing overall resident satisfaction. This review paper examines existing research on IoT-based public transportation systems and analyzes how they improve urban mobility efficiency and resident satisfaction within the context of smart cities. Through a systematic synthesis of recent studies, it is revealed that IoT-driven innovations can enhance route planning, real-time data collection, and seamless communication among stakeholders, thereby optimizing public transportation services. However, challenges such as data security, system interoperability, and equitable access persist. Findings from global case studies indicate that IoT applications reduce travel time and environmental impacts while fostering social interactions and increasing resident satisfaction. By analyzing data from over ۷۰ studies spanning diverse geographic regions and transportation domains, this paper identifies trends, existing gaps, and future research directions. Ultimately, the goal of this paper is to guide policymakers, urban planners, and technology developers in the optimal utilization of IoT technologies in building efficient, sustainable, and citizen-focused public transportation systems.
