Energy consumption in buildings is one of the key challenges in resource management and reducing environmental impacts. Energy optimization not only reduces operational costs but also contributes to environmental sustainability. In this regard, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), as two emerging technologies, play a significant role in optimizing building energy consumption. This study aims to investigate the impact of AI and IoT on building energy optimization through a review of previous scientific studies. Using a review and analytical method, the research examines published studies in reputable scientific sources and analyzes the applications of AI and IoT in building energy management. The findings indicate that AI, through machine learning algorithms, neural networks, and optimization systems, can identify and predict energy consumption patterns. Conversely, IoT, by utilizing smart sensors and Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), enables real-time data collection and intelligent control of equipment. The results of this research demonstrate that the integration of these two technologies can lead to improved energy management, reduced unnecessary consumption, and increased efficiency of building energy systems. However, challenges such as implementation costs, security issues, and the need for suitable technical infrastructure remain key barriers to the widespread adoption of these technologies. Finally, this study emphasizes the importance of developing integrated and intelligent solutions for optimizing building energy consumption.
