Theoretical Foundations of Meaning-Based Approach in Structuring Architecture and Culture "Citizenship, Meaning, and Place"

Citizenship is one of the most fundamental concepts in the field of architecture, considered as a cultural matter in the contemporary world. It has been gradually transformed as a key concept in understanding the social and spatial conditions of the city. The concept of citizenship seeks to extract urban social relations and spatial patterns that can systematically organize the meaning and context of urban life. The philosophical state of the concept of place and the citizenship of historical places has been emphasized, and this is not a self-learning approach, but rather a search for a meaningful understanding of citizenship. From the beginning, citizens and the community of architectural experts have considered the concept of meaning (۱۹۴۹, p۳۰۳) and place (۱۹۹۱) in architecture. The meaning of place will play a role in accessing place. From the beginning, the relationship between meaning and place has been important in architectural discourse. In this research, by examining the philosophical foundations of place and citizenship, the role of meaning in understanding the spatial-cultural dimensions of architecture is investigated. This interdisciplinary research seeks to provide a deeper understanding of the meaning of place from the perspective of citizenship and in the direction of the real meaning of place.
