An Insight into Prognostic Impact of TIPE۲ & CD۳۶ Immunohistochemical Expression in Urothelial Carcinoma

Background & Objective: Even though fast advances in the detection and management of bladder carcinoma, the number of deaths remains high. Therefore, the identification of an effective biomarker predicting tumor progression in cancer bladder patients is a crucial issue. This study aims to identify TIPE۲ and CD۳۶ expressions in cancer bladder and examine their relationship with clinicopathological data and prognosis.Methods: Using immunohistochemistry, we investigated ۶۰ specimens of bladder urothelial cancer (UC) for the expression of TIPE۲ and CD۳۶ and compared them with clinicopathologic parameters and survival data. Furthermore, we investigate the association between TIPE۲ and CD۳۶ expression and Vimentin expression to elucidate the influence of TIPE۲ and CD۳۶ on the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in UC.Results: TIPE۲ expression was associated with lower stages and prolonged disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS). Therefore, TIPE۲ may be considered a good indicator of UC prognosis. CD۳۶ immuno-positivity was associated with high tumor grade, stages, shorter OS, and DFS. Therefore, the immune positivity of CD۳۶ may be a poor prognostic marker for UC patients. Furthermore, Vimentin expression was directly correlated with CD۳۶ expression and inversely correlated with TIPE۲ expression.Conclusion: TIPE۲ and CD۳۶ may be novel biomarkers for predicting tumor metastasis and prognosis in patients with bladder UC and hold promise as therapeutic targets.
