چکیده مقاله:
This study investigates the compressive strength of bricks collected from decayed masonry buildings in Behbahan, Iran, utilizing two testing methods: the compressive jack test and the drilling test. Given the region's rich architectural heritage and the increasing concern over structural integrity due to aging and environmental factors, accurate assessment of brick strength is essential for preservation efforts. A total of ۵ brick samples were collected from various old buildings. The compressive jack test was performed to determine the maximum load-bearing capacity of each sample, while the drilling test measured drilling resistance as a non-destructive alternative for estimating compressive strength. The results indicated a significant but not linear correlation between drilling resistance and compressive strength, allowing for the development of a predictive regression model. This model with more verification can provide a practical tool for assessing brick strength without extensive damage to historical structures. The findings highlight the effectiveness of the drilling test as a viable method for in situ evaluating masonry quality.
