Suicide is the end of one's own life, if it is done at one's own will and by one's own hands. From the perspective of psychologists, suicide often occurs in the context of a major depressive episode, but it can also occur as a result of substance use or other disorders. It is sometimes seen in the absence of any psychiatric disorder, especially in indefensible situations, such as intense or prolonged grief or diminished health. Suicide is death caused by injuries that a person intentionally inflicts on himself. Intent, thought, preparation, unsuccessful or failed attempt are important in investigating suicide. Evidence shows that suicide is the third cause of death among people aged ۱۵-۲۴ and the fourth cause of death among people aged ۲۵-۴۴. It is also important to know that suicide patterns vary in different countries. Suicide is a critical situation for families and also frightening for therapists. Most therapists are willing to refer such cases. Although referral to an experienced therapist is a professional necessity, we must learn relevant intervention skills due to the fact that we sometimes have to face such situations in the treatment process. Among the different treatment models developed to cope with suicide include: Dialectical behavioral therapy, crisis intervention, dynamic psychotherapy, spirituality therapy, and hospitalization. Of course, considering 'drug therapy as a necessity' is of clinical importance. Suicide crisis intervention refers to efforts that are made in order to prevent suicide or to help people who are at risk of suicide. These interactions can be carried out in the form of support, counseling, psychotherapy and, in some cases, pharmacological treatment. In this article we are going to describe the types of suicide crisis intervention methods.
