چکیده مقاله:

Radiotherapy is an oncology-treatment method applied for more than half of patients with cancer. Despite its therapeutic effects, radiotherapy cause various side-effects among which adverse skin reactions are the most common one which imposes significant distress on patients. It makes them seek-out various alternative-therapies to combat skin changes. Many of these methods have not been fully investigated but antioxidants appear to be promising because oxidative damage and inflammation are the main involved pathologic mechanisms can be attenuated through using them. Hence, this study aimed to provide a comprehensive literature-based summary around detailed physiologic roles and effects of both systemic and topical antioxidants for radiodermatitis management.
