چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Emerging diseases are recognized as serious global health challenges that profoundly affect medical processes and therapeutic protocols. In the surgical domain, these diseases can impact the safety of patients and healthcare providers, leading to significant modifications in surgical protocols. With the increasing prevalence of emerging diseases such as COVID-۱۹, it is essential to evaluate their effects on surgical safety and protocols. This study, as a systematic review, aims to analyze existing research on the impact of emerging diseases on patient safety, changes in surgical protocols, and protective measures implemented in the operating room. Search Strategy: This study was conducted as a systematic review. Data were collected from reputable databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and Web of Science up to ۲۰۲۴. Relevant keywords such as 'emerging diseases', 'surgical safety', 'surgical protocols', and 'operating room' were used to identify articles. Selected studies included research focusing on the impact of emerging diseases on patient safety and surgical protocols. After an initial screening, studies were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the extracted data were qualitatively analyzed and categorized. Results: The results of this review indicate that emerging diseases have significantly influenced patient safety and surgical protocols. During the COVID-۱۹ pandemic, many hospitals developed new protocols to minimize hospital-acquired infections and protect healthcare providers. These protocols included the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), adjustments in surgical scheduling, and creating appropriate spaces to reduce physical contact. Additionally, some studies highlighted changes in surgical approaches, such as the adoption of minimally invasive surgeries as a method to reduce complications and infection risks. Conclusion and Discussion: The findings of this study confirm that emerging diseases can deeply impact surgical safety and operating room protocols. The changes implemented during the COVID-۱۹ pandemic underscore the necessity of adapting to new conditions while ensuring the safety of patients and healthcare providers. These changes have not only enhanced safety but also serve as models for addressing future emerging diseases. Moreover, further research is needed to investigate the long-term effects of these changes and evaluate the efficacy of new protocols. Given the ongoing shifts in global health conditions, continuous evaluation and adaptation of surgical protocols are essential to enhance safety and the quality of surgical services.
