چکیده مقاله:

Infertility is a major reproductive health problem affecting millions of couples worldwide. One of the most common causes of female infertility is diminished ovarian reserve, usually characterized by follicular depletion. Recently, much research has been done on the role of stem cells in the repair of damaged tissues. This review discusses the use of stem cells for the repair of ovarian tissue and their potential to enhance the outcomes of fertility treatments. A review was performed independently by two people based on the PICO criteria and aligned to the research objective and based on the PRISMA checklist and using PubMed, CINAHL, Medline, Web of Science, SID databases Google Scholar search engine, and Boolean operators. The time limit between ۲۰۱۸ and ۲۰۲۳ was determined using the MESH keywords 'IVF', 'infertility' and 'stem cells'. After rechecking the entry and exit criteria and critical evaluation for the quality of the selected articles, a total of ۸ articles were incorporated into the study. The results indicate that the transplantation of stem cells into ovarian tissue could improve ovarian functionality, elevate the number of follicles, improve the quality of oocytes, and ultimately enhance pregnancy rates. Also, from research, the introduction of BMSCs into the ovaries of infertile mouse models resulted in a ۳۵% average increase in the amount of antral follicles when compared to the control (p<۰.۰۵). The levels of serum estradiol were drastically increased in the treatment group. Laboratory experiments suggest that stem cells may enhance vascularization of ovarian tissue, as well as support viability of follicles, through the secretion of growth factors such as VEGF and HGF. This review shows the potential of stem cell-mediated repair of ovarian tissue as a novel treatment strategy in infertility associated with diminished ovarian reserve. However, further research is needed to identify the optimal dose of stem cells, the most efficient cell type, and the most effective mode of transplantation. Besides, long-term safety testing and the impact on fetal health need to be thoroughly evaluated. The study of stem cell-based repair of ovarian tissue has opened new horizons in the field of infertility treatments. This may soon become the cornerstone of infertility management with ongoing technological advancements and further clinical investigations.
