چکیده مقاله:

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) has become one of the most powerful solutions for infertility and has made significant advancements in recent years. Currently, there is significant evidence indicating that children born after IVF are at a higher risk for adverse perinatal outcomes, congenital anomalies, and rare epigenetic defects. Therefore, the aim of the present study is a systematic review of the impact of IVF use on the occurrence of fetal abnormalities over the past decade. The findings of this study indicated that pregnancies following IVF are at a higher risk for adverse perinatal outcomes, including preterm birth, low birth weight, and perinatal death. Additionally, some organs among children born after IVF are more affected, including neural tube defects, gastrointestinal defects, oral and facial defects, hypospadias, and other genital defects, cardiovascular defects, musculoskeletal defects, and chromosomal defects such as Down syndrome, especially among older mothers. Evidence suggests that the occurrence of abnormalities may vary based on the mother's age. Additionally, the quality of the egg and sperm cells can be influential. The results of this study indicate that innovative IVF techniques can affect the occurrence of certain fetal abnormalities. Given the complex nature of the factors influencing these outcomes, further research with stronger designs and larger sample sizes are necessary. Additionally, advancements in diagnostic and screening tools for embryos can improve IVF outcomes and reduce the risk of transmitting genetic disorders to future generations. Ultimately, providing comprehensive genetic counseling to couples facing infertility before Starting IVF treatment is very important.
