Investigating the pollution and dispersion of heavy metals in the sediments of Boshar Yasouj River

This research was carried out in order to investigate the pollution of Boshar River sediments in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad provinces. The length of the river is ۱۹۰ kilometers and it originates from the heights of Dana Mountain and joins the Karun River. Boshar River is important as the main source of water supply for the city of Yasouj and irrigation of the agricultural lands around it. This study shows that the amount of As, Cd, Co, Mo, Ni, Pb, Sb, and Sn elements are higher than the standard limit and show pollution. The enrichment factor investigation shows anthropogenic pollution origin of the said elements. The calculation of the pollution coefficient shows a very high degree of pollution for the sediments of this river.
