Composites have long captured the attention of scientists and manufacturers alike. Natural fiber composites are a well-known type of composites that have outperformed others in certain characteristics. These composites exhibit satisfactory mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, flexural stress-strain behavior, fracture toughness, and fracture strength, making them more appealing than other composites. Today, these composites can be utilized in the construction of vehicle bodies and interiors, aircraft structures, space structures, power transmission systems in the agricultural electrical industry, protective layers in the oil and gas industry, and the production of raw materials such as plastics and chemicals. Natural fiber composites are significantly more environmentally friendly compared to synthetic fiber composites due to their inherent properties and characteristics. These materials are derived from renewable sources such as plants, which, unlike synthetic fibers, have the ability to biodegrade. The production process of natural fibers consumes significantly less energy than that of synthetic fibers, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. Additional advantages of natural fibers include reduced air pollution, significantly lower weight, and decreased fuel consumption. The aim of this paper is to introduce various commonly used types of natural fibers and subsequently discuss the mechanical properties and applications of natural fiber composites.
