This descriptive research aims to evaluate the magmatism types and subsequently economicdeposits of the Sahand volcano. The Sahand volcano in northwestern Iran is characterized byvoluminous Late Miocene to Quaternary magmatic activity. Petrographic, mineral chemical,and whole-rock geochemical data have characterized two rock groups, which are continuouslyemplaced from the ancient Paleo-Sahand to the later Neo-Sahand stages. These are expressedby plentiful evolved rocks, with dacitic to rhyolitic compositions and less commonintermediate (andesitic) rocks. Distribution of diatomite deposits, economic geothermalreservoirs, possibility of occurrence of zircon and REE deposits, and non-metallic mineralreserves are discussed as the mineral resources of Sahand volcano. The Sahand mountain ofEast Azerbaijan province has rich mines, virgin and raw mineral reserves that needinvestment and exploitation to accelerate the industry and mining cycle in this region. Therole of these mines in the GDP leads to an increase in demand and the progress of the nextproduction circles, which will ultimately lead to the economic development of the country.
