Tensile structures mark a significant advancement in the history of architectural engineering. These structural systems possess the capability to span vast distances while exerting minimal load on the supporting framework. Recent developments in the design of fabric structures have the potential to transform the conceptualization of permanent building construction profoundly. This paper provides a comprehensive review of contemporary methods and systems for the design and construction of fabric structures. It begins with a concise historical overview and a discussion of various types of fabric structures previously constructed. The subsequent sections explore the progression of computational analysis methods, innovative construction techniques, as well as fabric material types, their properties, and characteristics. A qualitative descriptive evaluation research approach has been employed in this study. The methodology incorporates case studies, visual observations, and data collection. To further substantiate the findings, five case studies from around the world are presented, highlighting modern trends and direct applications of tensile structure design and construction techniques.
