چکیده مقاله:

The raising challenges of sustainable urban development, caused by climate change, population growth, and urban expansion, necessitate innovative approaches to urban stormwater management (SWM). This paper investigates the role of Low Impact Development (LID), particularly permeable pavements (PPs), as cooperative systems to enhance the sustainability of cities. LID systems address critical challenges like increased surface runoff, water degradation, and urban heat effects by promoting effective stormwater management and groundwater recharge. Despite their potential upwards, the adoption of LID faces serious barriers including high initial costs, maintenance demands, and poor public awareness. This study emphasizes the need for interdisciplinary research to optimize LID strategies and highlights the importance of collaboration across fields like transportation engineering, urban planning, and environmental science. By examining published papers about PPs from an interdisciplinary view, this paper identifies gaps in research methodologies and advocates for a more integrated approach to urban infrastructure design. Finally, the discoveries underscore the necessity of adopting new SWM solutions to foster resilient and sustainable urban environments in the face of recent climate changes.
