چکیده مقاله:
Iran and Turkey, both situated on the seismically active Alpine-Himalayan belt, have a long history of devastating earthquakes. Characterized by complex tectonic structures and numerous active faults, these countries face a persistent threat of seismic hazards. Major cities in both nations are located in high-risk zones, exacerbating the potential impact of future earthquakes. Historical records indicate that Iran and Turkey have suffered significant casualties from earthquakes. While precise data is limited, estimates suggest that over ۱۲۹,۰۰۰ people have perished in Iran and ۹۶,۰۰۰ in Turkey during the past century due to seismic events. These figures underscore the catastrophic consequences of these natural disasters. The year ۲۰۲۳ witnessed an increased frequency of earthquakes in both countries, drawing significant public attention. This research aims to compare the seismic activity of ۲۰۲۳ to historical trends in Iran and Turkey, providing insights into the relative intensity and potential implications of the recent events. By analyzing statistical data on earthquake occurrences, magnitudes, and locations, this study seeks to: Assess the level of seismic activity in ۲۰۲۳ compared to historical averages. Identify potential trends or patterns in earthquake distribution and frequency. Evaluate the impact of the ۲۰۲۳ earthquakes on both countries, considering factors such as casualties, damage, and public response. Understanding the seismic patterns in Iran and Turkey is crucial for developing effective earthquake preparedness, mitigation, and response strategies. This research contributes to ongoing efforts to reduce vulnerability and build resilience in these high-risk regions.
