چکیده مقاله:
Background and purpose: Today, with increasing social competitive pressure, many people are increasingly experiencing behavioral problems, stress, and depression. The presence of mental disorders can easily lead to negative health consequences such as suicidal behavior. In this systematic review, the results of research conducted in the field of sports and suicide in Iran are collected and integrated, which can be useful in informing health practitioners about the effects of sports and physical activity in relation to suicidal thoughts and suicide attempts. Materials and methods: In this review study, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, SID, Magiran, and Civilica databases were searched to find relevant studies, and all research conducted in Iran on the relationship between exercise and suicidal thoughts or suicide attempts, published between ۲۰۰۰ and ۲۰۲۴, was included in the study. Results: Out of a total of ۲۹۲ articles, ۵ articles that met the inclusion criteria were reviewed. The results of the studies showed that there is a significant difference between exercise and other factors in preventing suicidal thoughts or suicide attempts. Conclusion: Studies have shown that exercise and physical activity may be an appropriate treatment for many disorders, including psychological disorders that predispose to suicide. Physical health is closely related to mental health, and exercise therapy can be effective in preventing suicide by reducing anxiety and depression and increasing mental health.
