The Prediction of Attitude Towards Marital Infidelity in Married Women based on Quality of Relationship with Father, Religious Attitude and Emotional Dysregulation

Background and purpose: The attitude towards marital infidelity is one of the harms that exposes families to collapse. The aim of this research was to predict the attitude towards marital infidelity in married women based on the quality of relationship with father, religious attitude and emotional dysregulation. Materials and methods: The present study was a descriptive correlational study. The subjects of the research included ۲۹۸ married women from Mashhad, who were selected by available sampling. To collect data, Whatley's (۲۰۰۸) Attitude towards Infidelity Questionnaire, Dick's (۲۰۰۴) the fatherhood scale, Barahani and Golriz's Religious Attitude Questionnaire (۱۹۷۵) and Bjureberg et al.'s brief version of the difficulties in emotion regulation Scale (۲۰۱۶) were used. To analyze the relationship between the variables and to predict changes in attitude towards marital infidelity, Pearson's correlation coefficient and enter regression analysis were used. Results: The results of the research showed that religious attitude and attitude towards marital infidelity had a significant negative relationship (P<۰.۰۰۱), also the quality of relationship with father and attitude towards marital infidelity had a significant negative relationship (P<۰.۰۵), but emotional dysregulation had a non-significant positive relationship. The results of the regression analysis showed that religious attitude was a significant predictor for the attitude towards marital infidelity (P<۰.۰۰۱). Conclusion: These results show that the higher the religious attitude and the quality of the relationship with the father, the lower the attitude towards marital infidelity.
