چکیده مقاله:

Alkali -silica reaction (ASR), commonly referred to as concrete cancer, is a significant issue in modern construction, leading to structural degradation and reduced durability. This study investigates the mechanisms of ASR and evaluates the effectiveness of classical mitigation strategies through a detailed experimental analysis. Concrete samples were prepared with varying levels of reactive aggregates and supplementary cementitious materials, including ۲۰% fly ash and ۳۰% slag. Accelerated testing under controlled conditions revealed that the inclusion of these materials reduced expansion rates from ۰.۷۵% in control samples to ۰.۵۰% and ۰.۴۰%, respectively, after ۲۸ days. Microstructural analysis using scanning electron microscopy and energy -dispersive X -ray spectroscopy further confirmed the reduction in ASR gel formation, particularly in samples containing supplementary materials. The findings emphasize the importance of material selection in mitigating ASR and highlight the potential for sustainable construction practices through the use of industrial by -products. This research provides actionable insights for improving the durability of concrete structures and serves as a foundation for future studies aimed at refining mitigation strategies.
