Climate change is driving a shift towards sustainable architecture, with climate-positive buildings—those that generate more renewable energy than they consume—playing a key role. Achieving this requires advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), which enhances energy efficiency, integrates renewable sources, and reduces carbon emissions. This article explores AI's role in energy management for climate-positive buildings, focusing on improving performance and supporting long-term sustainability. This research investigates AI's contribution to energy management in climate-positive buildings, emphasizing sustainability. It explores AI's potential to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and integrate renewable energy, while assessing its effectiveness and identifying the challenges and opportunities in its implementation. A mixed-methods approach is used to explore AI’s role in energy management in climate-positive buildings. A literature review examined AI applications in energy optimization and renewable integration, followed by case studies utilizing data from secondary sources and expert interviews. Qualitative and quantitative data on energy consumption, production, and emissions were analyzed to assess AI’s impact on efficiency. Thematic and statistical analyses identified challenges and evaluated AI’s effect on performance. This methodology provides insights into AI’s potential for enhancing energy management and supporting sustainability in climate-positive buildings. The research highlights the key role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in optimizing energy management in these structures. AI technologies, such as machine learning and real-time optimization, enhance energy efficiency, reduce waste, and adjust systems like HVAC and lighting. AI also aids renewable energy integration, optimizing storage and grid distribution for net-positive energy performance. Additionally, AI helps reduce carbon emissions and supports sustainability goals. Despite challenges related to data quality, security, and integration, AI offers significant potential for improving energy performance and long-term sustainability in climate-positive buildings.
