چکیده مقاله:
Urbanization and industrial activities resulted in the release of contaminated effluents into surface waters which increased the concentration of pollutants, especially heavy metals in surface water. Therefore, removing heavy metals from river water and reducing its concentration to the standard level is one of the main goals of researchers in the field of water engineering, environment and water resources management. So far, various physical, chemical and biological treatment methods have been used to reduce the heavy metals concentration in water. In this study Pistachio hull waste (PHW) was added into water polluted as a natural adsorbent to increase HMs removal. First, the characterization of PHW before and after Pb adoption was determined using SEM, EDX, XRD, FTIR, BET and proximate analysis. Then, the HMs adoption capability of PHW was investigated through batch experiments using polluted synthetic water with Pb, Cu, Co and Ni. The characterization analyses proved that PHW has high HMs adsorption capability due to containing active functional groups and high surface area (۴.۰۲۱۸ m۲/g). Based on the batch experiments, ۴۵ mg of PHW could remove Pb, Cu, Co and Ni up to ۸۷%, ۷۳%, ۶۹% and ۸۸% in ۶۰ min. Finally, the results of this research showed that PHW can be used as a natural and environmentally friendly absorbent to remove heavy metals from water polluted.
