چکیده مقاله:

Advances in modern science have led to the development of new materials used in specialized concretes for specific structures. Heavy and ultra-heavy concretes are crucial in radiology and radiography departments, where they absorb harmful radiation to protect the human body. However, these heavy concretes add significant stress to the building’s structural components. To address this, researchers have explored creating lighter, yet strong concrete to alleviate this burden. Metakaolin is one such material that has proven highly effective in concrete production. It serves as an industrial additive that can replace part of the cement in the mix, producing high-quality concrete compatible with both natural and synthetic environments. This material is particularly suitable for lightweight concrete in demanding environments, offering enhanced longevity and mechanical strength. Additionally, fly ash, a by-product of coal-fired power plants, is used to reduce stress on structures and resist chemical attacks, especially in marine environments. Both metakaolin and fly ash improve the durability and quality of concrete, particularly in aggressive environments. Studies have confirmed that incorporating metakaolin into heavy and ultra-heavy concrete increases its strength and durability by about ۱۵ percent. This makes metakaolin a valuable additive for producing concrete that is more resistant to environmental factors, ultimately enhancing the structure’s longevity and integrity.
