چکیده مقاله:
Game-based learning (GBL) has emerged as a powerful educational strategy. It combines interactive and engaging activities with curriculum objectives to enhance student motivation and cognitive development. This study explores the effects of GBL on student motivation and cognitive skills, focusing on recent applications in primary and secondary education. A systematic review methodology was employed to analyze ۳۰ peer-reviewed studies published between ۲۰۱۵ and ۲۰۲۴. These studies examined various educational games and their impact on critical thinking, problem-solving, memory, and attention span, alongside their influence on intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Quantitative and qualitative data were synthesized to identify trends and measure outcomes. Findings indicate that GBL significantly improves motivation by fostering a sense of achievement and reducing learning-related anxiety. Moreover, it enhances cognitive skills such as strategic thinking, pattern recognition, and multitasking through immersive and interactive challenges. The integration of GBL was particularly effective when aligned with clear learning goals and supported by teacher facilitation. However, the effectiveness varied across age groups and depended on game design quality. In conclusion, GBL holds substantial potential for improving both motivation and cognitive abilities in students. Educators should incorporate thoughtfully designed games into the curriculum to promote active learning and engagement. Future research should investigate the long-term impacts of GBL and its applications in diverse educational settings.
