چکیده مقاله:

Seed production plays a significant role in the agricultural sector, providing the essential input for crop cultivation. It is crucial to assess the quality of locally produced seeds and compare them with international standards to ensure the viability of agricultural production. This study focuses on evaluating the quality of locally produced winter vegetable seeds in Babil Governorate against globally accepted seed quality parameters. This experiment was conducted in ۲۰۲۰ at the vegetable laboratory of the College of Agriculture, University of Al Qasim Green university, The characteristics studied included purity percentage, germination rate, agricultural value, moisture content, seed weight, and absolute weight. The results indicated that the seeds of broad beans and onions exceeded the globally permitted values in all studied characteristics. In contrast, the purity percentage decreased in the seeds of carrots, chard, and lettuce, and the germination rate was lower for lettuce and parsley. Moreover, seeds of peas, lettuce, chard, and parsley showed a lower average seed weight compared to the global benchmarks.
