The Effects of Educational Intervention Based on the Pender’s Health Promotion Model on Lifestyle and Fatigue of Patients with Cancer: An Experimental Study

Backgrand: One of the prevalent side effec ts of cancer treatment is fatigue, which cansignificantly impact patients' lifestyle and quality of life. The aim of this study was toinvestigate the effectiveness of Pender's health model on the level of fatigue and lifestyl e ofcancer patients.Materials Methods : This experimental study involved ۷۸ cancer patients selected throughconvenience sampling in ۲۰۲۳ and then randomly allocated to intervention and controlgroups using block randomization. All participants in both groups completed demographicinformation forms, the Cancer Fatigue Scale, and the health Promoti on Lifestyle ProfileQ uestionnaire to assess demographic characteristics, fatigue levels, and lifestyle before andafter the intervention. Data were analyzed u sing independent and paired t tests, and nonparametric tests including the Mann Whitney U and Wilcoxon tests. All analyses wereconducted using SPSS۲۰ (p=۰.۰۵)Results: The intervention and control groups were homogeneous in terms of demographicindices, fatigue level, and quality of life before the intervention (P<۰. ۱ ). After theintervention, the results indicated an improvement in all dimensions of lifestyle and a reduction in fatigue levels in the intervention group compared to the control group (P<۰.۰۵).Conclusion: This study provides evidence for the effectiveness of Pender's health modelintervention in improving the level of fatigue and improving the quality of life of cancerpatients and facilitates support for clinical trial s and future work.
