Twin-screw granulation has emerged as a key process in the powder conversion industry in the pharmaceutical sector to produce granules with controlled properties. This comprehensive review provides an overview of the simulation techniques and approaches employed in the study of twin-screw granulation processes. The twin-screw granulation process includes the basic principles of twin-screw granulation, equipment design, process parameters, and simulation methods. The operating conditions and formulation design of powder flow dynamics, mixing behavior, and particle interactions in a twin-screw granulator for enhancing product quality and process efficiency. Simulation techniques such as population balance model (PBM), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), discrete element method (DEM), process modeling software (PMS), and other coupled techniques are critically discussed with a focus on twin-screw granulation simulation. The approach and insights into future research directions are provided
