Production Methods of Carbon Nano-Tubes in ‎Industry

It seems that the first strings in the nanoscale were prepared in ۱۹۷۰ by Marinobu Endo from the University of Orleans, France. These filaments were seven nanometers in diameter and were prepared by steam growth method. However, today, the name of Ijima from the NEC laboratory in Tsukuba, as the first person who succeeded in observing nanotubes by HR-TEM in ۱۹۹۱, remains at the top of researchers in this field. Meanwhile, the spin of the rotating electron can have two directions. Until now, physicists believed that the four possible states for an electron are all equal to each other. These four states are obtained from the combination of two states for spin (in the up and down directions) and two states for the direction of rotation of electrons. At the same time and independently in Moscow, scientists had succeeded in discovering micro tubes, whose length-to-diameter ratio was lower than Ijima's discovery. The Russians named this substance Barrelense. What Ijima had managed to observe was a multi-layered nanotube, and two years later, he succeeded in observing a single-layered nanotube. In ۱۹۹۶, Rice's group succeeded in making parallel stacks of single-layer nanotubes, which opened the way for further research on one-dimensional quantum physics.
