چکیده مقاله:

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a relatively rare disease that can be associated with many mental, physical and psychological burdens. Therefore, this research was conducted in order to determine the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy on learned helplessness, anxiety sensitivity and self-inhibition in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients. The current research is semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design and with a control group. The statistical population of the present study includes all amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients in Isfahan city who referred to the support house in Isfahan city in ۲۰۲۲-۲۰۲۳ and had medical records, ۳۰ of them were selected by targeted sampling based on the entry criteria. They were selected and divided into two experimental and control groups (۱۵ people in each group) by random assignment. The research tools included Quinles and Nelson's (۱۹۸۸) learned helplessness questionnaire, Taylor and Cox's (۱۹۹۸) anxiety sensitivity and Weinberger and Schwartz's (۱۹۹۰) self-inhibition questionnaire. After conducting the pre-test (administering questionnaires) on two experimental and control groups, cognitive-behavioral intervention was conducted on the experimental group during ۸ sessions of ۹۰ minutes (one session per week). But the control group did not receive any intervention and finally, the post-test (administering the questionnaires) was taken again from the two groups. The results of the multivariate covariance analysis showed that the mean scores of at least one of the research variables (learned helplessness and anxiety sensitivity and self-inhibition) in the post-test stage in the two experimental and control groups of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients have a significant difference (P<۰.۰۵). ). Also, the difference between the adjusted means of learned helplessness scores in the post-test stage (after controlling the pre-test scores) in the two experimental and control groups of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients is significant (P<۰.۰۵) and the difference between the mean adjusted scores of anxiety sensitivity in the post-test stage (after controlling the pre-test scores) in the two experimental and control groups of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients are significant (P<۰.۰۵). Finally, the difference between the adjusted means of self-restraint scores in the post-test phase (after controlling the pre-test scores) in the two experimental and control groups of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients is significant (P<۰.۰۵). Considering the effect of cognitive-behavioral therapy on learned helplessness and anxiety sensitivity and self-inhibition, it is recommended that counselors, therapists and clinical psychologists use the mentioned method to improvelearned helplessness and anxiety sensitivity and self-inhibition, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients in medical centers and use advice.
